[For not being crazy, he's sure giving a good impression that he is! Sorry, Varrick, but people are going to stare at a guy hanging from a telephone pole by his knees. That's including a young man in red - though at least, Lloyd's willing to approach.]
[Varrick cracks open one eye, and gives the young man in question as vicious a glare as he can manage through only one eye while also hanging upside down.]
[Who knew he would be interrupted so often in this location? He was behind a tree and everything. Oh well, at least it's that nice new kid in engineering you likes sucking up. Could be worse.]
Hey, kid, good to see ya round. How are you doing?
[ A confused voice calls down from below as Jinora looks up at the man. Sure, one would think that hanging off of a telephone pole was not where one would want to be, but maybe it was some kind of performance art or something; he didn't seem to be upset about the situation. ]
[ Working for Varrick has always had such a steep learning curve. Like, how formal or informal is appropriate? Will anyone ever realize he still has no idea how to tie a tie? What exact brand of paper works best with the company printers? How do people take their coffee again?
Or a lot of the steepness could come down to the fact that Bolin is very enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly as all get-out, but not the most naturally adept at office work or environment-navigation. Finding a rhythm took a while. Especially remembering copier logins and getting phone numbers written down without having to ask for them twice.
He's still trying to figure out an accurate way to describe what he even does as an assistant when Zhu Li seems to kind of... do everything. He files things sometimes???? When there's a company-wide memo he gets to pass the papers around to every floor??? Sometimes Varrick loses his thinking pen and he has to pick up an awkwardly-shaped cabinet so he can get it back??? Heavy lifting seems weird for this kind of work, but whatever. There's something nice about a full workday of just being around to do whatever someone in the vicinity happens to need somebody there to do. Assisting is a fulfilling career tbh.
Plus, Varrick's really cool. Sometimes frustrating, or confusing as hell (or both at once), but cool. He's pretty hard to beat for company, which is more than Bolin could normally say for people who hire him. but lbr he has probably been hired for his butt before, it's just who he is. Varrick is just also the only employer who saw reason enough to keep him on for an extended period. Which pays out in the long run with increased competence and better chances to catch him in softball pants or something I don't know it's 1am.
Whatever, he's got your 8:57 coffee in one hand, a folder in the crook of one elbow that he probably could've left at his desk, and morning energy, made to order. ]
Hey, boss! Okay, so, got your coffee. Which was pretty good timing because I need to see you, so I figured two birds with one stone and all. [ Plus this means a better chance it hasn't gotten Too Cold between the kiosk and the office door. He plonks it on down in the appropriate place like a total pro wow wow. ] Couldn't help but notice that my filing cabinet's gone.
[ Inb4 he figured it out when he literally dropped a file onto the ground because he was in a morning groove and forgot to pay attention. ]
Kinda need to know if someone had to commandeer it again, or if is this more of a serious stolen-paperwork thing that ends in a security seminar.
[ Varrick stop hiring people without thinking about it, this is what happens. ]
You Feng Shui'd it to the copy room? [ Poor Zhu Li... there were so many files... so many files he needs to access. Damn it, Varrick. ] I mean, not that it's not a bad idea to get some energy flow going. I just, uh. I use that cabinet. Don't people usually just go room by room for that?

For being missing, obviously.
If she weren't missing he'd be able to find anything. Because just at the moment he can't.
Everything is just dark and disorganized and he has no idea what to do on his own and this calls for a brainstorming session pronto.
But then of course his pole is missing.
It is those reasons and no other which has now resulted in Varrick hanging upside down off a telephone pole in Avatar Korra park.
Yep, just that.
No he's not crazy.]

Trying to concentrate, obviously.

Except he doesn't get as far as that because there he is, his boss, upside down.
When he was the leader of an own organization in his world, George had been seen in quite a few strange poses, but this takes the cake with ease. ]
Sir. Are you alright?
[ Might be grinning in amusement here. ]

Of course! Why wouldn't I be alright?

[ Still smirking here. ]
Nothing more than a question out of courtesy really. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

Hey Rick, comfy up there?

[Why hasn't he fired you yet, jeez.]

Hey... pal. ...Need a hand?

[Varrick crosses his arms huffily over his chest. Seriously, a guy can't hang upside down in public anymore without drawing a crowd.]

If you had to ask for my professional opinion, sir, you seem to be... uh... suspended from a telephone pole.
I was taught to believe that kind of thing's a number one scene that someone's been assaulted and robbed! Right?
office aus it to heck

[Mmmmm coffee coffee coffee. Varrick takes a long, satisfied sip.
Oh but wait, he's talking to him. Does he keep the kid around for tlaking to and not just coffee reasons? He can't even remember.]
Oh yeah, the file cabinet! I had Zhu Li move it into the copy room. I'm trying to Feng Shui the office! Pretty great idea, right?

If I said yes, would that make a difference right now?

It might. [Read: no, not really ] So are you busy or not?
